You will find that the owner created a restful and soothing environment where you can absorb the local culture.

You will find several local towns to explore such as San Pancrazio, San Casciano, Tavernelle within 4 km,  and many more while travelling through the countryside.

This solution is ideal for a wedding party, holiday gathering or other special event for up to 11 adults and three small children. Unbelievable experience. Gianni and Lilia are the perfect hosts. The Begonia is perfect for two couples, plenty of room. The kitchen is easy, we made dinner three nights while there. The pool was cold and clean, perfectly relaxing. Great location. We visited all the hill towns in the area and Lilia gave us suggestions. Gianni gave us perfect turn by turn instructions to Florence and also made recommendations on where to go in the area. We cannot wait to go back.

We had a great stay and our hosts were wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation was exactly as advertised on line, scenic and peaceful. The location was central to Sienna and Florence and the roads in the country were not as scary as we feared. We do suggest taking the bus to Florence to save the hassle of finding a park. A pleasant five minute walk to a small mini mart, ten minute walk to a restaurant and a ten minute drive to larger shops and a supermarket at Tavernelle. I was one of a party of four and we all have no hesitation in recommending Poggio Sole.

A beautiful apartment in a beautiful location. Our hosts were courteous and charming, and we felt extremely welcome. Poggio Sole is the ideal springboard for exploring Tuscany, and also a fantastic place simply to relax. Would recommend to anyone, and we may well go again. We also had an excellent experience with your agency -- booked at the last moment and received very helpful support from your staff, including the recommendation that we stay at Poggio Sole in the first place.

We loved our stay at Poggio Sole. Beautiful surroundings and views, perfect outdoor areas for children. The hosts (Lilia and her family) are very nice and helpful. Although the place is situated in a very quiet area, the Minimarket can be reached within 4 minutes (walking distance). There is also a restaurant nearby - the food there is ok. The pool area is very nice. The place is a perfect starting point for sightseeing in the hills of Tuscany.
We liked it all.
Try some of the wineries in the area...

The warm reception. Lilia and Gianni greeted us warmly and ensured that everything was to our liking. The apartment was extremely comfortable. Little treats were left for us to make us feel like welcomed guests. Lilia made us aware of any festival or special event in the towns nearby for us to consider. We enjoyed a medieval fair with jousting and period costumes all while visiting a beautiful walled village...all things we would not have considered doing or found in our guide book. The location was ideal. In a quiet little village, we were a five-minute drive to the highway that links Firenze/Florence to Siena. We were approximately 30 minutes away from Firenze/Florence and 30 minutes away from Siena. A bit further north was Pisa and Lucca. We easily did morning trips to visit these cities and were cooling off in the pool by mid-afternoon. We enjoyed our 5 minute walk to the village to pick up croissants and pastries in the morning.
As we mentioned, many great cities are doable as day trips. We visited Siena one morning and stopped in San Gimignano on the way 'home'. Both were charming, but San Gimignano is a definite 'must see'. We enjoyed the festival in Monteriggioni, although the town is small and could be easily combined with visiting Siena or San Gimignano. Maria's little store is 5 minutes away and has great pastries to get you started in the morning and little things you may need for meals. Bigger shopping can be done at the Coop in Tavarnelle, 10 minutes away. Bring a book, or borrow from the collection in the apartment and relax by the pool in the afternoons.
What did you like on our website? The pictures gave us a good indication of what we were reserving. The way it was divided so that we could search by region, with or without pool, number of beds needed, etc.

This villa met all our expectations, however, apart from a very small general store that has restricted opening hours, you need to go at least 5klms for supplies. Gianni and Lillia are wonderful hosts and their property is clean, well kept and well presented. the kitchen is extremely well stocked with utensils and dishes, the best we have ever had in self contained accommodation.

The villa and the surrounding property are absolutely beautiful. Our hosts speak excellent English and are very friendly and helpful. Taravelle has a visitor information office where you can get local maps etc. Our hosts put together a very nice list of outdoor markets, restaurants and things to do.

The villa was better than the pictures. The hosts are wonderful. Overall, I loved this villa and would consider staying again. It is very conveninently located to Florence, Sienna, San Gimignano, Lucca, Pisa, Livorno.

17 September 2008

Hosts are very knowlegable about places to see, eat, shop, hike etc. They provided detailed map of Florence with specific bus, train and parking instructions which was very helpful. Poggio Sole is a beautiful spot with terrace and pool and a little cafe with pastries and cappuccino for breakfast just a few minutes walk away. Host family lives on the property and are very friendly and helpful without being intrusive. A fresh cake, baked by our host, and wine awaited our arrival!

The owners Lilia and Gianni were very friendly and even gave us some tips what to see around. The nearest restaurant La Fattoria was very good

Pool and poolside equipement were of the highest standard. The owners speak excellant English and were very friendly, welcoming and full of helpful advice.Volterra and San Gimignano were excellant, and worth the drive. Near to the villa (15mins drive)is Badia a Passignano, a small medieval village with an excellant Restaurant L'Antia overlooking the vineyards. Worth you also pointing out that the nearest supermarket is in Tavernelle, but that no supermarkets accept Credit Cards.

Absolutely wonderful place to stay. Mini Market just down the street. La Fattoria Ristorante just down the road and excellent food. Tavernelle Val de Pesa quaint little town 10 minutes away where you can do laundry and buy what you may need. Wonderful apartment, very well appointed and equipped. Lillia and Gianni are outstanding landlords. Extremely friendly and accomodating. The apartment was even better than the pictures.
Begonia was very well equipped and appointed. Very elegant but yet comfortable. The owners were exceptionally friendly and helpful. They speak fluent English, as well. The countryside is picturesque with olive trees and grape vines and the nearby town of Tavernelle Val di Pesa has everything you need. There is a little market in La Romita just down the street from Poggio Sole that can take care of most of your market needs. Sitting by the pool in the evening and morning walks on the country road were an added luxury to our stay. One truly could not have asked for more.
The closest restaurant is La Frattoria and is worth a visit or two. Poggio Sole is well situated between Florence and Sienna and gives you easy access on the Raccordo as well as the country roads that take you to the hillside towns.
The website is very informative, great pictures, large selection of properties.
Alessandra was very helpful, there wasn't any question I had that was not answered.

The market near the property has all the basics and ingredients to cook your own amazing feast. They have excellent latte & espresso, as well as wonderful pastries!!! La Frattoria near the property is an excellent rustic restaurant as well. Lilia & Johnny are amazing people, very warm & friendly. We felt very welcome and at home with them. They were also a tremendous resource about places to visit in the area. There was nothing I would change about the week we had there. The hosts made it an unforgettable vacation and one we hope to repeat again. We would definitely stay at Poggio Sole. It was also an easy location off the Autostrada and made traveling the area very convenient.

20 May 2008

This was the perfect location to be able to get on and off the motorway to sightsee around Tuscany....you had the feeling of being in wine country at the villa but the ease of being close to the main roads. The villa was very nice, comfortable and charming...our hosts were absolutely wonderful and friendly...giving us many suggestions for places to see and restaurants to go to. We would definitely return to stay at this villa. No concerns at all....everything was perfect!

04 January 2008

Our reception was very warm by our hosts. The place is beautiful and is an easy ride to many wonderful towns, including Florence. We are recommending it to our family and friends. Volterra was a great town to visit, Il Poggio was a very good restaurant there.

21 September 2007

Patricia Turner, Oakville, Canada

This location was incredibly central, 20 minutes to Sienna, 15 minutes to Florence and if you wanted to wander the backroads, hours of pleasure to be had, with plenty of village cafes, bars and churches to visit. Our hosts were inviting and provided us the perfect mixture of interest and privacy. We loved every minute of our visit and hope to return in the future. The villa was even more wonderful than the pictures portrayed! We woudl recommend POGGIO SOLE to friends and family without hesitation

very friendly host and hostess...a very warm welcome! beautiful surroundings central location and easy access to highway. Don't miss the hill town, Volterra...also very easy ride to Siena and Florence!

Our hosts were fantastic and very helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in the villa, which was beautifully presented and in an ideal location. Could not recommend more highly

There is an excellent village store 250m from the villa which stocks just about everything you would need. We also found the quality of goods very high and the prices only slightly more expensive than the supermarket. The owners are very friendly and the store is open every day except Wednesday. The area has restaurants and pizzerias for every budget and all that we visited were offering food of good quality and service with a smile!
From the minute we arrived the owners made us feel at home and their friendly but unobtrusive manner made our holiday very special. The villa and the surrounding area are exceptionally beautiful and Chianti is very central for all major attractions and cities (with a car) as well as being remote and idyllic enough if you just want to enjoy the beuatiful countryside.
